Stuart Strother is a professor of economics and director of business China programs at Azusa Pacific University. He has a Ph.D. in Urban and Public Affairs from the University of Louisville and an MSc. in Financial Economics from the University of London. Strother’s consulting work includes economic analysis for local governments, including impact studies, geographic analysis, business turnaround and policy analysis. His published research includes 10 books and a number of other publications. His primary research areas are Chinese business and economics, and local economic development. His recent book, Market Cities (North American Business Press, 2015), is a large empirical analysis of local economic development policy in US cities, concluding that "Market Cities" have more prosperous economies than those cities with overbearing local government. The Strother family also runs a cabin rental business in the ski town of Wrightwood, California.
